How can I show support/attend? -

– Your Support is Crucial!
Secure your spot by making your contribution as soon as you can, and encourage your friends to join in! We’re a completely grassroots operation, and our dedicated team is working tirelessly on a volunteer, not-for-profit basis to make this event a reality.

Your contribution is the only way Camp Kindred can happen. With 200 spaces available, we need to secure 70% of the funding by 31st May to move forward. If we don’t reach this target, all contributions will be refunded in full.

The minimum contribution is £100, and every penny goes directly into making Camp Kindred amazing. Want to do more? The more you give, the more everyone gets to enjoy!

The final tier ensures an enhanced experience for all. Every contribution helps make this grassroots, community-driven event a reality, with all organisers and contributors donating their time and skills.

Camp Kindred is a fully grassroots, DIY queer gathering held in a rural field setting just outside Lewes. As a small, unfunded, community-led event, we’re working with limited resources but we are absolutely committed to making the space as welcoming, safe, and accessible as we possibly can.

We recognise that access is not one-size-fits-all, and we know we won’t get everything right which is why we’re open to feedback and always happy to talk about what you need. There is a space on the application form to tell us your accessibility requirements, and we encourage you to reach out to us directly as well.

Here’s what we can confirm so far:

Flat terrain: The main camping area is up a slight hill but the stage areas are largely flat grassland, which is why we’ve added an another campsite area nearer towards the entrance so it is all on flat land and easy access to the stages.
Toilets: Compost toilets will be available. If you require an accessible toilet, please notify us in advance so we can ensure it is reserved and appropriately located.
Mobility: We’re happy to discuss any support you might need getting around the site, including providing closer parking/drop-off or arranging help from volunteers where possible.
Wellbeing & support: We will have trained wellbeing stewards (“Kindred Angels”) on shift throughout the weekend, as well as a team of first-aiders available for physical or mental health needs.
Quiet spaces: We’re working to create calmer areas where people can rest, decompress, or simply be, away from the busier parts of the site.
Communication: If you have specific needs around sensory access, visual cues, or communication preferences, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
PAs access: While we can’t guarantee free PA places for every request, we’re reviewing needs on a case-by-case basis. If you require support to attend, please get in touch as early as possible and we’ll do our best.

Camp Kindred exists to create a space where our queer community can thrive and we know that means making it accessible, not just fun. If you have access questions, ideas, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at campkindredfestival@gmail.com

Other details

Travel:

We have a WhatsApp group if you’d like to use this as a way to organise group transport, lift share, or offer your services for cash to transport people. If you would like to be a part of the Camp Kindred transport group please click this LINK.

There are local bus services with limited pedestrian access, but we strongly recommend vehicle access to ensure safety and ease.

There are public transport links via rail and bus to nearby towns of Lewes (6.9 miles) and Uckfield (2.3 miles). Lewes is an easier connecting station from locations like Brighton and London but is about 15 mins by car from the site, whereas Uckfield is a mere 5. We would advise booking taxis in advance when arriving in either location, both of which have taxi services who are familiar with the site.

Contact details for local taxi services are as below:
Lewes taxis 01273 483282
A-Z taxis 01273 474141
GM Taxis 01273 477567

Sleeping:

Camping: We have a large green field for all to set up camp on. Bring your tent! We advise those who prefer an earlyish bedtime to camp at the back-end of the field and ask those who like a late bedtime to not disturb the far end of the field with your singing, shouting and sex noises.

Glamping: There are a range of yurts to hire costing £220 for the weekend. To find out more and book these please contact Henry on 07775870123

Campervans: You are welcome to bring your campervan for an additional £50 fee. There is no electric hook up for campervans.

Food and Drink:

We’ll have a catering van on-site offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including vegan and gluten-free options. There will also be a bar serving a wide variety of drinks.
Feel free to bring your own meals and portable stove. Please note, portable BBQs are not allowed due to environmental concerns, but reusable BBQs are welcome.

Alcohol Policy: Please keep in mind that the income generated from the bar will go directly towards covering the running costs of Camp Kindred and ensuring it can continue to thrive. While we won’t be policing how much alcohol you choose to bring, we kindly ask that any glass bottles of alcohol be decanted into a non-glass bottle before you arrive.
